"Communicating via Blog"

Effective communication is a powerful source of learning new information, whether it is a face to face discussion or through writing. Having blog assignments in management class was a fun way of finding out about different cultures, new approaches to solving problems professionally, and even discovering our personalities. I found posting blogs interesting, especially when my classmates discussed the activities that we performed in class such as the activity with an egg, and personality test.
1. "Did you feel you benefited from meeting. learning about or observing others online? Did it help in extending the communicating in class?
I think the blog assignment was especially beneficial to my shy classmates who do not feel comfortable to speak in public. The blog assignment was unique way of finding out about the goals and aspirations of my peers which is the kind of information not everyone share at once. Reading a blogs that are full of great ambitions, optimism, and smart ideas is motivating in terms of career and personal life as well. One of the examples is the blog about your "Vision to life".
2. "Did the blog get you to think about and share your perceptions about some of what we did in class?"
Definitely, the class activities performed in class made me think about them after the class. For example, I tested my friend`s personality through "DISC" test just to find out whether I would hire him if I would be the Boss. He actually had almost the same result as mine. I was "D sub-I" and he was "I sub-D" :)
3. Did you clearly understand the degree to which you could easily improve your course grades and relieve your test anxieties by appropriate attention to your blog?
I did understand that by posting blogs on time, as well as commenting on three of my classmates` blogs I already have my 20% of the class grade.
4. Do you plan on continuing to post your thoughts or ideas about school, work, career, life on this or another blog after this class ended?
Since I am majoring in Marketing with a minor and Communications/Business Writing, most likely I will keep blogging on this or another blogs because I know that it will be a big plus in my communication skills and also improve my writing skills even more.

  1. Indeed all the activities we have done throughout the semester were very interesting and very catchy! As professor mentioned we most likely wont forget them for long time whereas study material might fade away from our memory as time passes. I also agree that we were able to communicate more with our classmates because of the blog and some people probably made new friends because of the blog☺

  2. You are right it was great opportunities for shy people to express themselves via blog. Also I think professor sometimes gave a lot of time in class participation instead he should have talked more. The professor’s time for teaching and sharing his experiences are more valuable to students than other students. The personality test was great and hopefully it will help us determine where we want to pursue our career in future.

  3. Having a major like yours I would say that you should keep on blogging - it will be beneficial in the future. I agree, blog was helpful tool and we could learn better, understand what's behind those class acctivities and to find out about the classmates more than we would usually could.

  4. Dinara, I'm agree that all, class activities, blogging, and commenting made many of us closer. I feel like some of us became to each other as a college family due to getting to know each other through the blog...Also I agree that writing blogs in some point improved our written skills. For example, in my case I don't have any classes to be doing some writing assignments, so our MGT blogs definitely diversified my number/formula related class assignments. So, let's keep blogging!

  5. I guess we all feel the same way about this blog! Beneficial and fun! :D I also loved the fact that this helped us to learn more about other classmates who are very shy to speak up in class. I loved "vision to life" blog assignment, because that helped me to motivate myself to achieve my goals in the future. DISC was very entertaining too, especially because the result matched my personality very well! :)
